If you feel the judge has made a legal error in the decision, then you may file an appeal. An appeal is an application for review by a higher court or person to review a decision of a subordinate court or person. Appeals can continue up to the Supreme Court, where the decision is final and can no longer be appealed. An appeal is not a re-trial. You will not be permitted to introduce new evidence.
There is no filing fee for filing an appeal on a criminal case.
All felony appeals must be filed in the Central Justice Center. For information on filing a felony appeal please call (714) 834-2215.
